Send us the raw tape. We send back the episode.

Edited, mixed and mastered in a quiet room on Warren Street. The coughs go, the breaths stay, the fridge hum lifts out like dust off a record — and the show notes and captioned audiograms arrive in the same folder as the master.

Priced by the episode, never by the hour

You’ll know the number before the first file uploads. Each rate covers up to sixty minutes of raw tape — the hour you talked, not the hours we spent with headphones on.

Before you hit record

Six small habits decide whether an edit spends its time repairing or polishing. Print this, tape it to the wall above the mic, and the episode comes back warmer.

Already recorded in a tiled kitchen?

Send it anyway. On the first call we’ll tell you plainly what can be rescued — and what can’t — before anything is invoiced.

Ask about your file: (718) 833-3606
  1. Give every voice its own track

One mic, one file per person. When someone laughs over the end of a sentence, separate tracks let us lift the two apart.

    Multitrack
  2. Record WAV, not MP3

An MP3 is a photocopy of a photocopy — every cut and every EQ move makes it a little hazier.

    48 kHz · 24-bit
  3. Leave ten seconds of room tone

Everyone silent, mics rolling, before the first word. That hush — radiator tick, street murmur — is how we print the noise profile.

    0:00–0:10
  4. Clap once on the count

A single sharp clap gives us a sync point when a guest’s track drifts a few frames over an hour.

    Sync mark
  5. Phones face down, in another room

Even on silent, a phone near the interface can chatter into the preamp as it hunts for signal.

    No GSM buzz
  6. Jot the minutes you regret

Named a client you shouldn’t have? Note the timestamp and it’s gone before the rough cut reaches you.

Things people ask on the first call

Q.01

What do I actually send you?

A shared folder link with one WAV per voice, plus a short note: guest names, links to mention, anything to cut. The checklist above covers the rest.

Q.02

How fast does an episode come back?

A rough cut in 3 business days, the master within 2 days of your notes. Need it sooner? Rush gets the master to you in 48 hours for $95.

Q.03

Can you fix bad audio?

Hum, hiss, a boomy kitchen, a plosive that thumps — usually, yes. A distorted, clipped track can be softened but not fully undone. We’ll say which before you pay.

Q.04

Will it still sound like us?

Ums are cut by ear, not by rule. A pause that means something stays; a stumble that loses the thread goes. You hear the rough cut before anything is final.

Q.05

Who owns the files?

You do. Masters, stems and the session files are yours to keep, and we hold a backup for a year in case a laptop takes a swim.

Q.06

How does billing work?

Single episodes are invoiced on delivery. Series runs: half at kickoff, half when episode four ships. Card, Apple Pay or bank transfer.

Q.07

Can you publish it for us?

Yes — upload and scheduling on your podcast host is included in a Series run and available on single episodes on request.

Q.08

Do I need to come to Staten Island?

No. Files travel by link and calls happen by phone. If you’re close, the kickoff can happen at the desk on Warren Street.

Your question isn’t here? It’s quicker said than typed.

One episode, one week, one folder

“Monday, the raw files land and we listen with the lights low. Wednesday, a rough cut reaches you — something to hear on the ferry home. Friday, the master, the show notes and two captioned audiograms sit in one folder, named so you can find them.”

00:08:02 — The room

Every second is heard before it leaves

Kalliope began as one editing desk on Warren Street, a pair of closed-back headphones gone soft at the ear pads, and a single house rule: nothing ships until someone has listened to it end to end, at speaking speed. Not scrubbed through. Not spot-checked. Heard.

That rule is slower, and it’s the reason a laugh lands where it should, a guest’s long pause stays long when it means something, and the hum of a laptop fan never sneaks back in at minute forty-one.

We named the studio after the muse of the beautiful voice because the work is the same as it ever was: help people sound like the clearest version of what they meant to say.

Most of our shows never set foot in the room. Their tape travels by link, and comes back by Friday — with the radiator still ticking somewhere behind us, edited out.
